Interior Minister on the Search and Rescue Operations for 2-Year-Old Tigran
The search and rescue operations for the 2-year-old child in Marmarik will continue until there is new information, stated Arpine Sargsyan, the Minister of Internal Affairs, in an interview with Armenpress. She addressed the tragic case of the disappearance of 2-year-old Tigran Petrosyan in Marmarik.
She assured that as soon as they received the alert, both rescue and police work commenced immediately. “We envisioned our work in two directions, considering the child's age. Within this framework, there could be several hypotheses. The rescue service has begun conducting search and rescue operations. To date, approximately 1,240 rescuers have been involved and continue to be engaged,” Sargsyan stated.
From the perspective of police work, the issue is being examined as a report of an apparent crime. Sargsyan confirmed that they have thoroughly analyzed all hypotheses, including the possibility of the child falling into the ground, as well as other potential criminal scenarios such as abduction. All hypotheses have become subjects of meticulous study.
“At this moment, the hypothesis of falling into the ground continues to be considered the primary one. Naturally, this does not mean that we will not engage with other hypotheses. Even the smallest, insignificant piece of information that could lead us to consider that, perhaps, there is another hypothesis that is critical is being investigated. Accordingly, all hypotheses are periodically reviewed and become subjects of new examination,” the minister added.
The area has also been surveyed using drones. At this time, there have been no positive outcomes. Sargsyan mentioned that they have reviewed and continue to examine available satellite imagery, utilizing resolutions that would allow for tangible information. In this regard, there have also been no positive results yet. The operations are ongoing.
“Generally, search and rescue operations last about 10 days; however, I have instructed that we continue the search and rescue efforts as long as we do not have any new information regarding the incident,” the minister assured.
