Sale of Lockable Small Knives to Minors to Be Banned
Particularly in recent years, there have been concerning situations related to crimes committed by and involving minors with cold weapons. This was stated by Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan during a Q&A session between the National Assembly and the Government while responding to a question from the Civil Contract faction MP Vahagn Aleksanyan.
“Together with our partners from the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, we have planned inspections in schools. Community police inspectors regularly visit schools, and we are also implementing a process to identify prohibited items. We also have a legislative package that will allow us to establish a list of prohibited items that should be clear so that we can guide our inspection and search processes accordingly in the future. We have also developed a legislative initiative that, I hope, we will bring to the National Assembly for discussion before the summer break. This initiative concerns the regulation of the ban on the sale of various small lockable knives to minors. I hope that in the framework of this proposed ban, we will be able to emphasize prevention more and achieve certain results from this perspective,” the minister noted. More details can be found in the video.
