I Wouldn't Be the First to Do That: Trump
US President Donald Trump told Time that Chinese President Xi Jinping had called him. However, he stressed that he wouldn't be the first to initiate such a call.
“He called, and I don’t think that is a sign of weakness on his part,” Trump said.
When asked if he would be the first to reach out to Xi Jinping, Trump replied, “no.”
Discussing the topic of their conversation, Trump compared the United States to a “big, great store” where countries want to make purchases, in the context of trade relations between nations.
Trump told reporters at the White House that the United States and China discuss trade issues every day.
