Using Grand Words at the Tables, but Subjecting Women to Violence in Real Life: Mirzoyan
In Armenia, there is discrimination against women, and it is high time we acknowledge this loudly, stated Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan during a government session.
“To add more, it is even worse—there is violence against women in Armenia, and there is domestic violence,” noted Mirzoyan.
According to Mirzoyan, it is commonly said that violence occurs in rural areas; however, he agrees with the Prime Minister’s words that it also exists in Yerevan.
“In our society, there are topics where it is customary to speak grandly at the tables and raise toasts, but in real life, the opposite attitude towards women is demonstrated,” added Mirzoyan.
He emphasized the need for relentless struggle against domestic violence.
