Proposal to Rename Metro Station 'Youth' after Avetik Isahakyan
The 'Youth' station of the Yerevan Metro has been proposed to be renamed after the great Armenian writer Avetik Isahakyan. This was announced by the Minister of Education, Science, Culture, and Sports, Zhanna Andreasyan.
“This year marks the 150th anniversary of Avetik Isahakyan, and a jubilee commission has been formed, which includes prominent intellectuals and family members, including Isahakyan's grandson. During the commission's discussions, the idea was raised to consider this proposal in light of the statue of Isahakyan located nearby and the jubilee year,” the minister said. “In accordance with the established procedures, the proposal has been submitted to the city hall. I believe it is within the jurisdiction of the council's decision,” she added.
