Kassakh Residents Attempt to Block Yerevan-Ashtarak Highway
Residents of Kassakh village have been attempting to block the Yerevan-Ashtarak highway since early morning, but police have been preventing them from doing so. The protesters are intermittently closing the highway, demanding the return of route number 59, which previously connected Kassakh to Yerevan.
It is worth noting that on April 9, the government met with residents of Proshyan and Kassakh to discuss transportation issues affecting these communities. The meeting included representatives from the Prime Minister's office, the head of the Transport Department of the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure, and local municipality representatives.
Following the meeting, Proshyan residents announced that their issue had been resolved and that route number 25 would be retained. However, this route will not go directly to the village but will detour from the area of the former Ministry of Defense building and return to Yerevan. Meanwhile, the route number 59 for the Kassakh community is being discontinued.
