Snap Elections Announced in Canada
The new Prime Minister of Canada, Mark Carney, has decided to dissolve parliament and call snap elections on April 28.
“We are facing the greatest crisis of our lives due to President Trump's unjustified trade actions and threats to our sovereignty,” the leader of the Liberal Party told reporters in Ottawa after meeting with the Governor General to request the dissolution of parliament.
“I am asking Canadians for a strong, positive mandate to deal with President Trump and to build a new Canadian economy that works for everyone, as I know we need change—big change, positive change,” he stated.
