Minister of Internal Affairs Comments on Azerbaijani Singers in Yerevan
The Minister of Internal Affairs of Armenia, Arpine Sahakyan, has responded to a controversial video that appeared on social media on January 30, showing a group of individuals singing an Azerbaijani song about Karabakh in Republic Square.
“Individuals have the right to spend their leisure time as they wish. The NSS has issued a statement regarding this incident. I ask that this episode not be politicized and that it not be brought into the sphere of inter-state relations,” Arpine Sahakyan stated during an interview with reporters in the National Assembly.
It should be noted that on January 31, the NSS announced that the individuals singing were citizens of the Islamic Republic of Iran. The person who disseminated the video, Garib Babayan, was arrested on February 1 but was not detained after the court rejected the request for detention.
On February 12, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan also addressed the circulated video, accusing the opposition of staging the video of Azerbaijani singers performing the song
