Armenia and Russia to Discuss New Agreement on Russian Television Channels

Discussions on a new agreement will take place in Armenia. Minister of High-Tech Industry Mikitar Hayrapetyan announced in Yerevan about upcoming negotiations with Russia regarding the signing of a new agreement on the broadcast of Russian television channels in Armenia.

According to Hayrapetyan, the proposals under discussion are still unclear due to the absence of an agreement. He confirmed that one of the points being discussed is the broadcast of Armenian public television on Russia's Multiplex.

Hayrapetyan had previously warned about the possibility of terminating the existing broadcasting contract if negotiations with Russia do not yield positive results. As a preventive measure, the broadcasting of Vladimir Solovyov's programs ("With Vladimir Solovyov" and "Sunday Evening with Vladimir Solovyov") has already been halted in Armenia.

Currently, the channels "Mshakuyt" and "Mir" are being broadcast through Armenia's public Multiplex.

On March 21, France's media regulator ARCOM ordered EUTELSAT to ban the broadcasting of Russia's "Pятый канал" and "СТС" channels due to EU sanctions.

It's noteworthy that Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan had threatened to disconnect Russian television channels in Armenia.
