Zelensky is Leading Ukraine Towards Autocracy, Poroshenko Says
Zelensky is leading Ukraine towards autocracy: This was stated by former Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.
“He is the unfortunate leader of a team that is taking the nation towards autocracy. Ukraine is not Russia, and we will not allow autocracy to be established in Ukraine,” he declared.
Poroshenko called the sanctions against him and his party an attack on freedom and democracy. When asked why he is under sanctions, he could not provide an answer.
“I am the only political leader, the only opposition leader, who has been sanctioned without any explanation. What is happening here is unconstitutional, illegal, and there is no court decision. It is simply a very foolish, illegal, criminal violation of the law,” he emphasized.
When asked about recent reports suggesting that Trump wants Zelensky to resign, Poroshenko commented: “Who will be the leader of Ukraine is up to the Ukrainian people. You know what Zelensky said in his electoral program in 2019: I will not run for a second term. I will complete my first term and leave.” He concluded, “If that is his direct promise, why should I express my opinion on this matter?”
