There is No Absolute Truth in History: Pashinyan

According to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, there is no absolute truth in history, and every interpretation of history is essentially a political interpretation. He made this remark during a conversation with Turkish media visiting Armenia at the initiative of the Republic of Armenia, as reported by the Anadolu Agency.

“In my perception, there is no absolute truth in history; every interpretation of history is actually a political interpretation,” Pashinyan stated, adding his thoughts on the Armenian Genocide. “Our official position is that international recognition is not currently one of our foreign policy priorities.”

Pashinyan then discussed the absence of the term 'Western Armenia' in the Constitution of Armenia, as well as the circumstances surrounding the peace with Azerbaijan. “Peace and good relations are primarily crucial for us with our immediate neighbors,” he announced during the meeting with Turkish media.

“What purpose do we use history for? To make historical confrontations eternal, or do these historical confrontations serve as a message for building a peaceful, cooperative, and stable future in a regional context? I am in favor of this second interpretation,” he emphasized.
