Turkey Blocks Israel's Participation in NATO Exercises
According to sources from the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Turkey has blocked Israel's participation in NATO's annual exercise. This was reported by Ermenihaber.
Specifically, Turkey has obstructed Israel's participation in the NATO exercise titled 'Stability and Emergency Preparedness'. It is noted that NATO decisions typically require consensus and without an active partnership agreement with Israel, Turkey cannot be compelled to allow Israel's involvement in the alliance's official activities.
Israeli officials have accused Turkey of using its veto power as a political tool. An anonymous official stated, 'Turkey's position undermines regional cooperation and the capacity of NATO to address global challenges.' According to him, Turkey applies the veto right in a way that harms strategic partnerships. Blocking Israel's cooperation with NATO makes it impossible to ensure stability and contradicts the fundamental values of the alliance.
