Peace Treaty with Armenia Not with Prime Minister, but with the Republic of Armenia: Azerbaijani Official
Azerbaijan wants to sign a peace treaty with the Armenian state, not with the Prime Minister. This was stated by the Deputy Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament, Ziyafet Askerov.
He asserted that the signing of the treaty has been delayed due to Armenia's “manipulations.” According to Askerov, Armenia has postponed the signing of the peace treaty under pressure from former U.S. President Joe Biden's administration.
“To date, 15 out of 17 points have been agreed upon. One of the unresolved points is the opening of the ‘Zangezur Corridor.’ Armenia has initially blamed Iran, then France, and later the U.S. for disrupting this process. The second unresolved point concerns Armenia's territorial claims enshrined in its Constitution. Their Declaration of Independence states that Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Armenia, yet Armenian authorities have already announced plans for a new Constitution. Nikol Pashinyan has also admitted that the previous amendments to the Constitution cannot be considered legitimate. We want to sign an agreement not with the Prime Minister, but with the state of Armenia,” he said.
