Driver Penalty Points System to Be Revised
The existing 9-point penalty system for drivers will be transitioned to a 13-point system. This announcement was made today during a government meeting by Minister of Internal Affairs Arpine Sargsyan.
It is noted that the changes will come into effect on May 1, 2025.
"Citizens who have unused penalty points will automatically have their points adjusted to 13. If, for example, 2 out of 9 points have been used, starting from May 1, they will have 13 points," she said.
It is worth mentioning that the Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, had previously stated during a live broadcast on Radio Aurora that legislative changes have been initiated, with the authors being workers and drivers residing in our country.
