Hospitals and Polyclinics in Armenia to Cease Fluorography
During today’s government meeting, a decision was made to halt fluorography in hospitals and polyclinics across Armenia, with relevant equipment being retired from operation.
This decision was made considering the conclusion by the Ministry of Health that fluorographic examinations do not meet the current medical standards. The effectiveness of fluorographic examination in diagnostics is low, and in many cases of certain diseases, it becomes necessary to conduct additional radiographic or other radiological diagnostic tests.
Moreover, with the advancement of technology, the radiation exposure from digital radiographic examination machines has significantly decreased, equating to the exposure levels from fluorography machines. A similar trend is also observed in the case of computed tomography.
