Simonyan on Urgent and Safe Return of Armenian Prisoners
Achieving peace necessitates the urgent resolution of all humanitarian issues, with the prompt and safe return of Armenian prisoners being the foremost concern. This was stated by National Assembly President Alen Simonyan during a panel discussion on "Together for Peace and Democracy".
He emphasized that while a peace treaty has yet to be signed, most of the discussed articles have been agreed upon. According to him, Armenia has proposed mutually acceptable solutions to Azerbaijan that would not only facilitate the signing of the document but also address remaining issues.
Simonyan expressed regret that Azerbaijan has not yet responded to these proposals. He added that despite challenges in the security sector, Armenia is seeking ways to normalize relations with its neighbors and establish lasting peace in the region.
“The 'Peace Crossroads' project initiated by Armenia aims to unlock all transport communications based on the principles of state sovereignty, jurisdiction over infrastructures crossing their territories, equality, and reciprocity,” Simonyan emphasized.
