Deep Debate and Conflict Surrounding Army Exemptions for Young Men, Says Pashinyan
Kami we must either improve the mechanisms so that there is no loophole for escape, or we bring existing illegitimate situations into a public agreement of legitimacy. This was stated by Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, addressing the detrimental phenomenon of freeing young men from military service.
“In recent years, there has been a deep debate and conflict around this issue. One aspect is about those who spend illegal huge sums to find themselves in an illegitimate situation. We need to create some schemes for a public agreement to resolve this issue. This concerns certain payments directed to others who are serving. Roughly speaking, it's like a fine paid by those who do not want to go down that path or do not have the means to do so.
The psychology of a significant part of our male population is under great pressure that distorts their adulthood. The result is an internal inferiority and, consequently, internal weakness. Under this pathos, we are leading people towards theft and fraud,” he said.
