Arshak Karapetyan Denies Arrest Reports
The former Minister of Defense of Armenia, Arshak Karapetyan, has denied reports that he has been arrested in Moscow. The news about his alleged arrest was circulated by Russian media and Telegram channels.
It was reported that an arrest warrant had been issued against the former Minister of Defense in Armenia on several charges, including illegal participation in entrepreneurial activities, abuse of official power, and misuse of authority.
In an interview with the Hayeli media club, Karapetyan stated that he had been invited for a conversation based on documents received from the law enforcement agencies of the Republic of Armenia. “Shortly thereafter, Arshak Karapetyan was released from the police. According to him, the Russian law enforcement officials were surprised and amused by the criminal cases opened against him in Armenia,” reported the media outlet.
It is noteworthy that Arshak Karapetyan served as Armenia's Minister of Defense for just a few months, from August 2 to November 15, 2021.
