Slovak Prime Minister to Cease Electricity Supplies to Ukraine
The Prime Minister of Slovakia, Robert Fico, has announced that Slovakia may suspend the supply of electricity to Ukraine due to the escalating tensions surrounding gas supplies. He noted that possible sanctions will be discussed after January 1, 2025.
“After January 1, we will evaluate the situation and potential reciprocal measures against Ukraine. If necessary, we will halt the supply of electricity, which is crucial for Ukraine, during network outages,” said the Slovak Prime Minister.
The transit of Russian gas through Ukrainian territory is set to cease on the morning of January 1, 2025, following the expiration of the relevant contract.
