Flawed Practice: Zakharova Addresses Armenian Authorities
The Russian Federation considers the ban on political scientist Mihranian's entry into Armenia as a hostile act by Yerevan. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, during a briefing.
“We perceive the prohibition of Andranik Mihranian’s entry as an absolutely unfriendly step. It contradicts the allied status of our bilateral relations,” Zakharova emphasized.
According to her, the Russian Foreign Ministry has sent an official inquiry to the Armenian authorities demanding clarification.
She also noted that the Russian side has repeatedly called on Yerevan to abandon the “flawed practice” of restricting entry to Russian citizens who have been inconvenient to the authorities for various reasons.
“This seems particularly strange against the backdrop of the Armenian authorities' constant statements about their commitment to openness, democracy, and pluralism of opinions,” Zakharova added.
Zakharova stated that Moscow intends to continue raising this issue with Yerevan.
