Suspect Arrested in UnitedHealthcare Executive Murder Case in the US
The police in the United States have arrested a suspect in the murder of a UnitedHealthcare executive. According to police reports, 26-year-old Luigi Manonen was apprehended in Altoona, Pennsylvania, for possessing a firearm.
CNN reports that the US Attorney's Office has already charged him with the murder of Brian Thompson.
Days earlier, Brian Thompson, the head of UnitedHealthcare, was shot dead in Midtown Manhattan, as reported by The New York Post. The publication notes that an unidentified individual fired at Thompson and then fled the scene.
The Wall Street Journal adds that US law enforcement has encountered expressions of sympathy for the criminal concerning Thompson's murder, as many Americans regard him almost as a 'folk hero' for striking a blow against the country's commercial healthcare system.
On social media, American users have suggested sending 'false tips' to the police or dressing like the assassin to confuse law enforcement.
