Iran's Foreign Ministry Comments on Israeli Attack
Tehran reserves the "right and obligation" to defend itself against the "aggressive actions" of other countries, according to a statement from the Iranian Foreign Ministry published in the context of Israeli strikes on Iranian territory.
"As repeatedly emphasized by Iran's competent authorities, the Islamic Republic of Iran, based on the natural right of legitimate defense reflected in Article 51 of the UN Charter, reserves the right and obligation to defend itself against foreign aggressive actions," Tasnim news agency quotes the Iranian military's statement.
The Israeli Defense Forces announced on Saturday night that it would strike military targets in Iran in response to attacks on the Jewish state on October 1. CBS News, citing its source, reports that Israel's attacks on Iran have been limited to military targets and did not extend to nuclear or oil facilities.
