Japan Scrambles Fighters Due to Russian Aircraft
The Japan Air Self-Defense Force has scrambled fighter jets to intercept two Russian Tu-142 aircraft. This was reported by media citing a statement from the Japanese Ministry of Defense.
The aircraft were flying over the sea between Japan and South Korea on Thursday morning and were heading towards Okinawa Prefecture.
It was reported that the Russian planes did not violate Japan's airspace. However, they traversed a zone that is subject to territorial disputes between the two countries.
