Armenia to Participate in Informal CIS Summit and BRICS Summit
Armenia will participate in the informal summit of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). This was announced by Deputy Foreign Minister Mnatsakan Safaryan during a press briefing with journalists at the National Assembly.
He did not specify the format of this participation, saying that further information will be provided.
Notably, Russian presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov had stated that an informal CIS summit is planned to be held in Moscow on the eve of the parade commemorating the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Mnatsakan Safaryan also reported that Armenia will attend the BRICS summit scheduled to take place in Kazan in October.
The BRICS summit will be held from October 22 to 24 in Kazan. Earlier, Turkey and Azerbaijan submitted applications for membership in BRICS.
BRICS countries account for 34% of the Earth's territory and 45.2% of the world's population. Their GDP, adjusted for purchasing power parity, constitutes 36.7% of the global value.
