Armenia to Celebrate Father's Day on June 17
The Armenian government has decided to designate June 17 as Father's Day following a resolution passed in today's meeting. This initiative was put forward by MP Zaruhi Batoyan from the ruling 'Civil Contract' faction, proposing amendments to the law on 'Holidays and Commemorative Days in the Republic of Armenia' to officially recognize June 17 as Father's Day.
The decision's rationale highlights that Article 16 of the Armenian Constitution emphasizes the state's responsibility in recognizing the family's role in protection. Currently, the law establishes Mother's Day and Beauty Day, celebrated on April 7, but does not recognize a Father's Day.
In the decision, it is noted that in many countries around the world, Father's Day is celebrated to honor and express gratitude to fathers for their sacrifices, contributions, and investments for the sake of their children's and family's future and well-being.
The amendments will come into effect on the 10th day following the official publication.
