‘Hellishly Dangerous’: Poland Warns Ukraine of Serious Threat
Russian MiG-31BM fighter jets will be the main threat to Western F-16 fighters in Ukraine, writes the Polish magazine Komputer Swiat.
“The debut of F-16 aircraft in Ukraine is a matter of weeks, and, according to some experts, their most terrifying adversary will be the MiG-31, equipped with hellishly dangerous R-37 missiles,” the article states.
The journalist noted that Russian military forces have received a new batch of MiG-31BM aircraft. He warned that the Western fighters would lag behind in range against the Russian jets, even if the F-16s are equipped with AIM-120 missiles.
“The coming months will show whether we will witness air battles in Ukraine's skies and who will emerge victorious from them,” the columnist concluded.
Last year, the Netherlands and Denmark agreed to provide F-16 fighter jets to the Ukrainian armed forces. Last week, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken announced that the United States and its allies are sending fighters to Ukraine that will arrive in Kyiv this summer.
