There Were Claims That a Citizen's Hand Was Amputated, But That's Not True; Three Fingers Were Removed, and If He Hadn't Picked Up the Special Device from the Ground, This Wouldn't Have Happened: Pashinyan
There was an attack on police officers by participants of the movement led by the Catholicos of All Armenians and Robert Kocharyan. Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan made this statement during his concluding speech in the National Assembly.
The police response was lawful and professional. In such cases, police will act similarly. The police protected the statehood of Armenia. Moreover, someone with the title of bishop told the police to take off their helmets, claiming that they were not in danger, only for that same individual to later organize a barrage of stones against the officers.
A total of 18 police officers and 83 citizens were injured, all sustaining mild to moderate injuries. Yesterday I was shown a picture claiming that a citizen's hand was amputated, yet it is evident that this isn't the case. The citizen underwent surgery, and three fingers were removed, which I regret. However, videos clearly show that the citizen picked up a special device thrown by the police, which exploded in his hand. If he had not picked it up, this would not have happened,” said Nikol Pashinyan.
