Iran's Acting Foreign Minister Introduces Remarkable New Emphasis in Official Stances
Iranian expert Vardan Voskanian has commented on the words of Iran's acting Foreign Minister Ali Bagheri Kani on his Telegram channel. In an interview with CNN Türk, Bagheri Kani introduced a noteworthy new emphasis in Iran's official positions.
Responding to a question about the so-called 'Zangezur corridor,' the senior Iranian official stated that Iran opposes any plans or initiatives that would alter the demographics and borders of the region. This marks the first time the Iranian side has talked about demographics, which carries two important nuances: opposing the depopulation of Artsakh and expressing dissent against the idea of populating various regions of Armenia with ethnic Azerbaijanis within the so-called 'Western Azerbaijan' conceptual framework.
Such firm positions from Iran indicate that the interests of Armenia and Iran overlap on many points, and the Armenian-Iranian civilizational alliance could prove to be extremely effective.
