Criminal Proceedings Initiated in Case of Forced Nudity of Former Sisian Police Chief
The former head of the Sisian Police Department, Garik Muradyan, has become a victim in a case of torture initiated in the Shengavit division against him, prompting the Anti-Corruption Committee to launch criminal proceedings. It has been reported that the proceedings were initiated based on the characteristics of abuse of official power and the perpetration of violence by a group of individuals, recognizing him as the injured party. This information was reported by Armlur.am, citing its sources.
“Let us remind that lawyer Vahan Hovhannisyan had alerted that the head of criminal investigations at the Shengavit Investigation Division, Gevorg Bareyan, and his subordinates had tortured a 39-year-old man. The lawyer recounts that the 39-year-old Garnik was summoned for questioning as a witness in a serious crime case at around 10:30 AM, provided his testimony, and afterwards the investigator suggested that he remove his clothes. The individual refused, leading the investigator to resort to the option of confiscation, after which the police began forcibly undressing the witness. “Three police officers and two operatives threw him to the ground; in front of my eyes, the head of Criminal Investigation placed his foot on his head to prevent him from moving and attempted to remove his clothes by twisting his arms and legs,” the site reports.
It should be noted that Muradyan was brought for questioning in connection to his alleged involvement in the robbery case at the Haypost building, an allegation that has not been substantiated,” the site states.
