11 New Automatic Meteorological Stations Acquired with Japan's Support in 2023
In 2023, with the support of the Japanese government, 11 new automatic meteorological stations have been acquired. Additionally, funds have been allocated from the state budget for the purchase of 9 automatic meteorological stations.
This was stated by Minister of Environment Hakob Simidian during the discussion of the execution of the 2023 state budget in the National Assembly. "These are actions that help us have a better opportunity for weather forecasting. These automatic stations provide us with almost real-time data regarding wind, humidity, and other necessary information for weather forecasting," said the minister.
Approximately 300 million drams have also been allocated from the budget for the purchase of two air quality monitoring stations. "Of course, two stations are not enough for us. Next, we will apply for budgetary support to purchase new stations for both Yerevan and the regions. This is very important for promoting the process of correcting and making the air pollution situation more manageable," the minister added.
