Clooney Foundation Aims to Pursue Arrest of Russian Journalists Abroad
The George Clooney Foundation is seeking to address the arrest of Russian journalists abroad by the EU and the ICC. This was announced in an interview with the Voice of America by Anna Neistat, a representative of the Clooney Foundation.
According to her, the foundation intends to advocate for the ICC to initiate criminal proceedings against Russian journalists who are reporting on events in Ukraine with a pro-Russian bias.
The foundation also aims to encourage individual EU countries to initiate criminal prosecutions against Russian journalists for "war propaganda." Following the start of military operations in Ukraine, various media outlets, including "Channel One," "Rossiya 1," "TASS," "RT," and "Sputnik," have come under sanctions. Additionally, individual sanctions have been imposed on some journalists.
On May 17, the EU Council included "Izvestia," "Rossiskaya Gazeta," and the "RIA Novosti" agency on its sanctions list.
