No More General-Lieutenant Ranks in NSS
The National Security Service of Armenia will no longer award the rank of general-lieutenant. This decision was made during the cabinet meeting today.
Based on previously adopted amendments to the Law on the Service in National Security Bodies, the positions of the NSS director and his deputies have transitioned from military to civil service. Accordingly, with today's decision, the rank of general-lieutenant will no longer be awarded within the NSS.
Thus, the last individual to likely receive the rank of general-lieutenant during their service in the NSS will be its current head, Armen Abazyan, by the end of December 2023.
