Zelensky Criticizes Biden
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed that he does not consider the decision of U.S. President Joe Biden to skip the peace summit in Switzerland to be very strong. Zelensky's comments were relayed by the Ukrainian publication 'Strana'.
“With all due respect, I don’t find the decision to not participate to be very strong. I believe that President Biden should be at the peace summit, and there are other leaders who are looking at the U.S. response,” he stated.
Biden is skipping the summit due to a fundraising event in Hollywood.
On May 28, Ruslan Bortnik, director of the Ukrainian Institute for Politics, stated that the absence of Chinese leader Xi Jinping and Joe Biden at the conference regarding Ukraine in Switzerland would serve as a signal for both the West and the Global South.
On the same day, Gennady Podlesny, director of the Center for Applied Sociology and Political Science, mentioned that none of the parties have high hopes for the peace conference regarding Ukraine, which will take place in Switzerland in mid-June.
