‘Pashinyan is a liar and a scoundrel,’ says Zatulin
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan is attempting to shift full responsibility for the defeat in the war against Azerbaijan in Nagorno-Karabakh onto Russia. This was stated by Konstantin Zatulin, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma’s Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration, and Relations with Compatriots, in an interview with Gazeta.Ru.
Zatulin commented on Pashinyan's accusations yesterday against two member countries of the CSTO for providing assistance to Baku in 2020. “My position has long been known. Pashinyan is a liar and a scoundrel who is trying to redirect the anger of the Armenian people towards Russia, having failed and lost everything that his predecessors and the entire Armenian people have fought for over many years,” Zatulin stated.
The Duma member clarified which two countries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization he was referring to. “It can be considered Russia and Belarus. In my opinion, there is no need to make assumptions about it,” Zatulin declared.
It is noteworthy that the day before, Pashinyan stated in the National Assembly that our allies also participated in the preparation for the war during the 44-day conflict in 2020. He said this in response to a question regarding statements made by Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko in Baku. “I know at least two countries of the CSTO that participated in the preparation of the war against us. Those countries may have created an imitation that they want to help us. That war was not about Nagorno-Karabakh. That war was about the expectations of the Republic of Armenia. The goal of the war was the absence of an independent Armenian state. That did not happen on November 9, 2020, and they tried again in 2021. They failed again, then in 2022, 2023, and again it did not happen. They even tried to do it on May 9, 2024, and it still did not work out, and it won't work,” Pashinyan noted.
