Guess why. The answer is simple: Alen Simonyan
The Speaker of the National Assembly of Armenia, Alen Simonyan, wrote on his Telegram page: "The opposition does not participate in most of the sessions of the National Assembly, does not participate at all in the sessions of the National Assembly Council, and does not take part in almost 90% of the discussions on laws. The opposition regularly does not engage in the Q&A sessions with the government, does not nominate candidates for the positions of heads of permanent committees and deputy speaker of the National Assembly, and virtually does not engage in the functions of these committees. However, the opposition comes, registers, and participates in the voting on laws—either against or abstaining. Guess why. The answer is simple: If they are absent from one session of the National Assembly, about 24,000 AMD is deducted from their salary. This is, indeed, the best example of the opposition's absence from the agenda and its non-existence."
