Geneva, Brussels, Paris, and More: Business Trips Funded by the Budget Continue in Parliament
The newspaper "Hraparak" reports: "Even the popular movement and the restless situation in the country are not preventing the representatives of the ruling party from their voyages. In these days, when people are carrying out protests against the authorities, parliamentary group members do not restrain themselves from trips.
The Speaker of the National Assembly, Alen Simonian, will go on another business trip with a large delegation. The 9-member group will participate in the preparatory committee meeting for the 6th World Conference of Presidents of Parliaments in Geneva from May 15-18. Only staff representatives are included in the delegation, such as his spokesperson, advisor, operator, and others.
Members of the Defense Committee, Kristine Poghosyan and Armen Khachatryan, are currently in Brussels for a four-day visit, participating in a round table organized by the Geneva Center for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) and NATO’s Partnership for Peace Consortium (PfPC) on the theme “Protection of Democratic Values: The Role of Security Sector Governance and Parliamentary Oversight.”
From May 12-15, members of the ruling party, Hakob Arshakyan, Hasmik Hakobyan, and Taguhi Ghazaryan, have been dispatched on a working visit to Bratislava (Slovak Republic).
From May 15-18, Ruben Rubinyan will be in Paris. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Pashinyan has traveled to the Kingdom of Denmark to participate in the Democracy Summit in Copenhagen, where the topic of discussion will be “From the Frontline: Defending Democracy in Armenia.” It should be noted that the opposition has an internal decision to reject trips during these days."
