Such Actions Speak Volumes: Kremlin
Russian President Vladimir Putin's inauguration ceremony was snubbed by ambassadors from Western countries, who have seemingly forgotten the terms of their diplomatic mission in Moscow. This opinion was expressed by Yuri Ushakov, assistant to the Russian President, during a conversation with journalists.
"They forget under whose rule they are accredited, in my view," said the Kremlin representative. According to Ushakov, such actions "speak volumes in themselves." He noted, "They simply forget where they are and why they are here; the main thing is that they are here."
Ushakov added, "I believe that their capitals hinder them from carrying out normal diplomatic functions, which is regrettable."
Previously, Maria Zakharova, official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, stated that the arrogant refusals of several Western diplomats to attend the presidential inauguration ceremony were laughable to the Russian side. Additionally, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov called the decisions made by heads of diplomatic missions of this kind as "cheap."
Ushakov had also revealed earlier that all heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Moscow, including those from unfriendly countries, had been invited to the presidential inauguration.
