Over a Thousand Police and Special Forces in Kiran Village, Says Mayor
The mayor of Kiran, Kamo Shahinyan, stated that at around 6 AM, police entered the village and detained about 30 individuals, including minors, using force.
According to the mayor, the men were taken from the area where they were on duty to prevent demining operations in the village. The detained individuals are currently in the Ijevan police station.
“I am now in Ijevan; I have seen the boys, but the police have not provided any explanations yet,” the mayor said, adding that they have not yet made any complaints, awaiting a response from the police. He noted that there were no women among those detained. Women continue to block the road, but he suspects that the police may forcibly open that road as well.
“There are over a thousand police officers and special forces in the village; the situation is very tense,” he added.
