What Kiran Residents and Nikol Pashinyan Discussed: A Deputy Shares Details
A meeting took place in the government building between the residents of Kiran village in the Tavush region and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan. Following the meeting, one of the villagers expressed dissatisfaction with the outcomes, indicating that nothing had changed. One resident told reporters that there were no new developments, as reported by Armenia Today.
“These people will not be living there,” stated a resident, struggling to hold back tears.
Gegam Nazaryan, a deputy from the ‘Armenia’ faction, noted that after the meeting, the village residents found themselves once again in a state of uncertainty and fear. “When the border guard stands, you will be safe, but you may live safely for 7 days, and on the 8th day it may not be safe,” he quoted the Prime Minister's words.
On April 19, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Armenia announced that Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed to start the delimitation process from the Tavush region, after which residents of border villages in Tavush began protests. The protests were also triggered by a later statement from the Prime Minister's office indicating that after delimitation, the Armed Forces would give way to border guard troops in these areas. Protests which started on April 19 continued in other regions of Armenia and in Yerevan in the following days.
