Tornadoes in the U.S. Cause Fatalities and Damage
The state of Oklahoma has been hit by a severe storm with heavy rainfall, resulting in the formation of several tornadoes. At least four people have lost their lives, including one child, according to CNN, citing the local Emergency Management Agency.
Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt has declared a state of emergency in the area. Over the past weekend, several regions in Oklahoma experienced "multiple large and extremely dangerous tornadoes simultaneously,” as reported by the National Weather Service.
In some locations, wind gusts reached speeds of 218 km/h. In the city of Sulphur alone, around 30 people have been injured, though details regarding the severity of their injuries have not been provided. Stitt elaborated that all businesses in the central part of the city have been destroyed.
"This is undoubtedly the most significant damage I have ever seen since becoming governor," he added.
