Stoltenberg Promises Ukraine Will Join NATO in the Future
During an unannounced visit to Kyiv, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg promised that Ukraine would join NATO in the future. He also expressed intentions to form a "Ukrainian Armed Forces" during a press conference where he discussed the creation of a fund worth 100 billion euros for Ukraine's defense over the next five years with President Zelensky.
However, despite numerous announcements regarding assistance to Kyiv, Stoltenberg does not foresee Ukraine's membership in NATO as a possibility following the results of the July summit. "But we can demonstrate that we are taking a step forward towards membership, which should come as soon as possible," he added.
