We Cannot Abandon the Topic of Enclaves/Exclaves: Pashinyan
The processes of border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan will also address the issue of enclaves/exclaves, with Armenia preparing to substantiate that the Artsvashen exclave is, de jure, part of Armenia. This was stated by Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan during a conversation with reporters regarding the agreements reached on border delimitation between Armenia and Azerbaijan.
According to Pashinyan, there is a very “allergic” attitude in Armenia concerning the topic of enclaves/exclaves. “But we cannot abandon the topic of enclaves/exclaves, because Artsvashen, which is an exclave from our perspective and an enclave from Azerbaijan’s perspective, is included in Armenia’s sovereign territory of 29,743 square kilometers. We have agreed to address this issue. We are preparing to substantiate, de jure, the inclusion of the Artsvashen exclave as part of Armenia,” Pashinyan stated.
In the working process, the commissions on border delimitation should present the documents on the table. “When we substantiate that de jure, the border delimitation of Artsvashen should take place,” the Prime Minister noted.
