Samvel Vardanyan Recognized as Victim: New Details from the Investigative Committee

The Investigative Committee of Armenia has received a report regarding an incident that occurred on April 15, 2024. In the evening, after corresponding investigative actions were carried out, while being escorted by police officers to a detention facility, Samvel Vardanyan, who had been arrested on suspicion of committing an act of hooliganism, was subjected to violence and faced actions that demeaned his dignity.

In connection with this report, a criminal case has been initiated under Article 450, Part 2, Clause 7 of the RA Criminal Code at the Directorate for the Investigation of Torture and Violence by Officials of the Investigative Committee.

Samvel Vardanyan has been recognized as a victim. A preliminary investigation is being conducted to clarify the circumstances of the incident, verify the information mentioned in the report, and provide legal assessments.
