Ireland Elects the Youngest Prime Minister in the Country's History
The new leader of the Fine Gael party, Simon Harris, will become the Prime Minister of the Republic of Ireland. He received the majority of votes from members of the Irish Parliament. Harris' candidacy was supported by 88 representatives, while 69 voted against him.
Thus, the 37-year-old politician will become the youngest Prime Minister in the history of the country. Harris is set to meet with Irish President Michael Higgins throughout the day to confirm his position as head of government. Following that, he will make reassignments in the cabinet of ministers.
