If We Haven't Responded, It Means We Don't See Significant Danger: Kocharyan on Gunfire
The gunfire you are referring to now fits into a logic of ongoing shots that say nothing. This was stated by Andranik Kocharyan, an MP from the ruling Civil Contract Party, during a conversation with journalists.
He also emphasized that they are concerned about any gunfire, but these events do not signify much. “I could even tell you how many shots were fired, but I won’t, as it will be exploited. Gunfire is a bad thing, but if we haven't responded, it means we don't see significant danger in it. The fact of gunfire has not been recorded in the direction of villages. We do not want to appear frightened,” he said.
Kocharyan noted that concerns should be alleviated not with grandiloquent statements, but through actions. Responding to Armen Rustamyan's assessment that gunfire could escalate into large-scale actions, Kocharyan stated that everything is possible. “However, this gunfire does not provide a basis for such an assessment. If something large-scale happens, we must not leave our current work for tomorrow in order to confront them,” he added.
In his conversation with reporters, Civil Contract MP Andranik Kocharyan also noted that issues related to demarcation are being discussed in the Defense and Security Committee, and the opinion of the General Staff should be primary in organizing such work. He emphasized that without the opinion of the Armed Forces, organizing such activities would be impossible.
Responding to reporters' remarks that the Prime Minister had promised to meet again with the residents of Voskepar in ten days, but it has already been more than fifteen days, Kocharyan replied: “If the Prime Minister promised, I believe he will keep that in mind, taking into account his busyness. If the Prime Minister promised, he cannot go back on that.”
