Drugs, Mobile Phones, Wi-Fi Devices: Prohibited Items Found in Prisons
The Central Department of the Penitentiary Service of the Ministry of Justice of Armenia, along with territorial divisions and security units of penitentiary institutions, has uncovered and prevented attempts to circulate prohibited items, drugs, as well as gambling activities within prisons.
The Penitentiary Service has presented a report on the drugs, mobile phones, Wi-Fi devices, and other prohibited items discovered in Armenian penitentiary institutions during the month of March.
During the previous month, penitentiary service officers found a total of 2.99 grams of substances resembling drugs, 88 mobile phones, 75 mobile phone accessories, 4 Wi-Fi devices, 112 cutting and piercing objects, and other prohibited items from various hiding places prepared in prison restrooms, under staircases, in cell cabinets, under tables, in air conditioning vents, and other locations.
For all listed instances, relevant proceedings have been initiated, and forensic chemical examinations have been appointed.
