Elen Asatryan Elected as Glendale Mayor

Elen Asatryan has been elected as the mayor of Glendale, California, following the results of the city council elections held in the United States. This was announced on the Facebook page of the Eastern Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD). As the first female candidate, Elen Asatryan received the most votes in the city council elections in 2022.

By winning in this round of Glendale city council elections, she becomes the first Armenian American woman to hold the mayoral position in the fourth largest city in Los Angeles County. In her microblog, Elen Asatryan expressed gratitude to her supporters, noting that no significant achievement comes easily. “This victory required teamwork and determination. All residents and stakeholders can take pride in this success; it is a expression of justice and inclusivity,” wrote the newly elected mayor.
