Current Ukrainian Government Considered Ineffective and Unprofessional
Irina Gerashchenko, a member of the Ukrainian Rada from the "European Solidarity" party, has stated in a Telegram post that the current government is ineffective and unprofessional, and that popular unity is not genuine, against the backdrop of the cancellation of the presidential elections in the country.
The presidential elections in Ukraine were scheduled to take place on March 31, 2024, but have been cancelled due to martial law and general mobilization. President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced that elections are now "not timely," emphasizing that a conclusion must be reached on this issue.
"Right now, elections are indeed impossible. We all need to focus on supporting the army... But in the current situation, the government is ineffective and unprofessional; this is also obvious. What is necessary for the survival of the country is a true unity, not a front-line, ceremonial, paper one," Gerashchenko wrote.
"Zelensky's office cannot govern the country, no matter how much anyone may wish. Therefore, restoring subjectivity to the parliament and government is also about the survival of the country," the MP emphasized.
Earlier, Ukrainian Rada deputy Oleksandr Dubinsky stated that Zelensky's powers expire on the night of May 21 and cannot be extended. Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov confirmed that Zelensky would be stripped of his powers after May 21.
The Ukrainian publication "Shabatva Hayeli" reported on February 27, citing its sources, that Zelensky's office had prepared a request to the Constitutional Court for clarifications regarding his legality after May 20. Later, the Constitutional Court stated that it had not received any requests concerning Zelensky's legitimacy.
