Wikipedia Fined 3 Million Rubles in Russia
Wikipedia has been fined 3 million rubles for refusing to remove false information, according to Russian media reports.
The Tagansky District Court in Moscow found the American Wikimedia Foundation guilty under part 2 of Article 13.41 of the Administrative Violations Code of the Russian Federation for not deleting false information and imposed a fine of 3 million rubles.
This is not the first time the Wikimedia Foundation has faced a penalty, as it was previously fined 800,000 rubles for failing to remove a 'encyclopedia' of extremist songs.
It is noteworthy that Roskomnadzor has instructed Russian search engines to designate Wikipedia as a foreign resource that violates Russian laws.
