VIDEO: Nikol Pashinyan Starts New Series on TikTok: "Conversations About the State"
Starting today, I am launching a series with a certain periodicity called "Conversations About the State," Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced in a video posted on his TikTok page.
He specifically noted, "It is already evident from the title what questions it will address, and I just want to share some thoughts with you. Generally, if we classify states into several layers, without claiming to list all possible options, there are monarchies, aristocracies, and democracies, whose fundamental difference lies in who derives power. In the case of a monarchy, it is from the monarch; in aristocracy, from the elite; and in democracy, from the people. We are a democracy due to the referendum of 1991 and also the peaceful, non-violent Velvet Revolution of 2018, and I must note that one of the key factors of democracy, if not the most crucial one, is the citizen.
It is very important to understand how a citizen is formed. This is related to the relationship between a person's freedoms and responsibilities. If a person has only freedoms and no responsibilities, in essence, in such a situation, we can encounter anarchy. If a person has only responsibilities and no freedoms, in that case, we could face totalitarianism, and even worse options could be enumerated."
